Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced that World of Warcraft®: Cataclysm, the third expansion for the critically acclaimed massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), sold through more than 3.3 million copies as of its first 24 hours of release, making it the fastest-selling PC game of all time.* This milestone eclipses the previous record of more than 2.8 million copies sold in 24 hours, set in November 2008 by Blizzard’s second World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King®.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm was simultaneously released in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Europe, Russia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand on December 7, and became available in Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau on December 9. More than 10,000 stores throughout the world opened their doors at midnight to welcome players who wanted to be among the first to obtain a copy of the expansion. In addition, more than 15,000 players attended official launch events hosted by Blizzard and key retail partners in the US, Canada, France, Germany, Russia, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK, and the region of Taiwan.

“We had to bring Azeroth to the brink of destruction in Cataclysm, but the result was our best expansion yet,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We want to thank all of our new, existing, and returning players throughout the world for their incredible enthusiasm and support, and we look forward to hearing what they think about all the new content.”

“World of Warcraft: Cataclysm delivered even bigger day-one sales than we experienced with StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty in July,” said Bob McKenzie, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop, “making this a record year for Blizzard Entertainment at GameStop.”

Prior to the launch of Cataclysm, World of Warcraft’s subscriber population had grown to more than 12 million players globally, further strengthening the game’s position as the world’s most popular subscription-based MMORPG. More information about the new expansion can be found at the official Cataclysm website:

To keep pace with the continued growth of World of Warcraft as well as development on other Blizzard Entertainment® games, the company is currently hiring for numerous open positions. More information on career opportunities available at Blizzard Entertainment can be found at

Moonkin Hatchling & Lil’ Ragnaros Now Available

two new World of Warcraft pets in the Blizzard Pet Store: Lil’ Ragnaros and the Mookin Hatchling!  Please check out the link below for more details!

Moonkin Hatchling & Lil’ Ragnaros Now Available

We’re pleased to announce that the two recently revealed in-game pets, Lil’ Ragnaros and the Moonkin Hatchling, have now made their way to the Pet Store section of the online Blizzard Store at a price of $10 each.

Lil’ Ragnaros, the Tiniest Firelord

Ragnaros, the dread master of all fire elementals, will return in Cataclysm to avenge his defeat in Molten Core. And what better way to head into battle than with a miniature version of the firelord himself following at your beck and call? Lil’ Ragnaros, just like his full-scale namesake, burns with constant fury (not to mention flames that serve as a handy cooking fire) and comes equipped with the legendary hammer Sulfuras. And as a being of pure elemental fire, he has no need to walk from place to place — he just submerges into the magma below the world’s surface when you start walking and reemerges when you stop.

Moonkin Hatchling Charity Pet — For the Children!

The googly-eyed Moonkin Hatchling, which comes in unique Horde and Alliance versions, will occasionally plant flowers at your feet, and happily /dances with any willing partners. Like last year’s Pandaren Monk, the Moonkin Hatchling has a soft spot for helping children. For every Moonkin Hatchling adopted from now through December 31, 2010, Blizzard Entertainment will donate 50% of the $10 purchase price to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®.

Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. announced today that the subscriber base for World of Warcraft®, its award-winning massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), now exceeds 12 million players worldwide. This milestone was reached in the wake of the mainland Chinese launch of World of Warcraft’s second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King®, and also as global anticipation continues to mount for the December 7 release of the game’s third expansion, Cataclysm.

“The support and enthusiasm that gamers across the world continue to show for World of Warcraft reaffirms our belief that it offers one of the best entertainment values available today,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We are as committed as ever to taking the game to new heights, and we look forward to demonstrating that with Cataclysm in December.”

Since debuting in North America, Australia, and New Zealand on November 23, 2004, World of Warcraft has become the most popular subscription-based MMORPG around the world. It was the bestselling PC game of 2005 and 2006 worldwide, and finished behind only World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade®, the first expansion pack for the game, in 2007. For 2008, the World of Warcraft series represented three of the top five bestselling PC games, with Wrath of the Lich King finishing the year at #1, and in 2009, World of Warcraft titles claimed three of the top six spots.*

World of Warcraft is currently available in eight languages and is played in North America, Europe, mainland China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Chile, Argentina, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Blizzard returns with its long awaited expansion to the ever popular “World of Warcraft” Series with Wrath of the Lich King.

The story continues with the awakening of the lich king, Arthas, in Northrend. Northrend is a cold fridgid territory reminding one of the Icelandic countries and Russia in others (ie Borean Tundra)

Characters that have reached the edge of their leveling from the last expansion, Burning Crusade, can now look forward to 10 more levels increasing their skills and weaponry.  This time Blizzard Developers promised the new equipment that gamer would obtain will last longer and not become useless with every expansion.  As for traits and skills, Blizzard added a new Glyph feature to characters.  Players will able to enhance specific spell properties such as mages’ evocation to improve performance.  A number of other changes to abilities can also be found on the World of Warcraft main site that go into further detail.  If you are a power player and reached the max in a day or so, a new hero class is available for you to play.

Death Knight opens a new chapter for those interested in the Warcraft Lore and offer new areas and quests for those that want something new.  Also referred to as the “dark paladin”, this casting plate class opens up new opportunities for PVE and PVP with abilities such as death grip ( Simulates Scorpion’s Spear move in Mortal Kombat).  This hero class is limited to one per server on an individual account starting at level 55 with a horse and all rare (Blue) gear.

The instances and battlegrounds are all varied and also include the usage of siege weapons such as tanks and catapults. Players will now be involved in epic warfare using everything in their arsenal.  The environments are always beautiful with a soundtrack that is quite eclectic ranging from classical to trance techno.  Mobs are a bit more intelligent and not as limited on their AI.

Trade skills go up to 450 now so you have much to do in the ways of raising  those professions.  Materials for some professions don’t come so easy as items are concentrated in the central part of Northrend.  The different factions have many differnt item sets that do some major buffage.  Also the sets that drop in Northrend will not go out of style so quickly.  Blizzard has vowed that this time items will last a bit longer after the next expansion.

Mounts have changed where they are able to carry more than 1 person. Mammoths that are available for those who have 18K gold can carry up to 3 people a vendor and repair/reagent person.   There are epic war bears and cold flying mounts available as you go up in reputaion with certain factions.   For a death night a skeletal mount is availble when you reach 70.

Evo Factor

There is much to see and do and see on the new continent and there are always new ways to exploit the expansion.  So what are you waiting for.  Please note that you must have the first World of Warcraft game and the Burning Crusade expansion in order to play.  There is much more to the game that the basic stuff that was written here so stay tuned for updates!
